• Plus Size Sports Wear – Getting fit by 40 with JD Williams

Over the Christmas break we bought a static bike to try and build up our fitness so when I was approached by JD Williams to try some of their Sports Wear I was super chuffed.

I am turning 37 tomorrow and it means I have 3 years till I am 40 which is actually really on my mind. I think I want to make sure that by the time I am 40 I have done more to make sure I stay healthy.

Let me make myself clear, exercising to get healthy does not equal weight loss. I believe you can be fat and fit. I always was when I was younger and it’s only now I am getting older I have noticed that I am starting to slow down.

I struggle to walk at the moment as I have a bad foot and I find myself out of breath going up one flight of stairs. I want to avoid those things so half an hour on our new static bike will help to build up fitness and stamina.  Not only that, I truly believe that exercise is brilliant for mental health and for helping with sleep. At the moment I don’t sleep well and I can’t switch off. I have a very stressful and high octane job with deadline pressures all the time so I really want to exercise to wind down.

I am by no mean sporty – I hated P.E. when I was a kid but I did it and it did do me good. I am also not a sports fan, apart from Ice Hockey (Let’s go Steelers!) so I never considered sports wear in my wardrobe.

    I chose 4 items.

    Pineapple jogging bottoms

I haven’t taken photo’s of. The reason for this is they haven’t allowed for a booty and they are not suitable for exercise because of that. I can just get away with them as lounge wear.

    X Neck sports top

    sports 1

    sports 2

I LOVE this top – I love it. It’s a lovely sweatshirt material with long sleeves and thumb holes (don’t you just love these?) and a ruched detail on the shoulders.

    sports 3

There is a little zip on the bottom of the top at the back which is great for an inhaler (which I need) or your phone/ipod for music.

I got this in a size 24 and it fits really nicely. I am a size 26 on my bottom and a 24 on top so it’s true to size.

I paired it with the following.

    Sports High Waist Print Leggings

    sports 4

    sports 5

These are a size 20. I always size down in leggings as I have very slim ankles and they always have good stretch.

The material is nice and light and like lycra leggings of old. The print I absolutely love, so much fun.

My favourite thing about these are the hight waist. This makes them so comfortable and you know they are secure for cycling and potentially, yoga (I am definitely thinking about this now because of these).

The final item I received was:

Body Star Performance Full Zip Hood

This doesn’t have a hood but I actually prefer that.

    sports 7

This I got in a 24 again, and it fits nicely.

The thing I like about this is the back comes down a bit more than the front so if you are doing your exercise with too much enthusiasm you won’t bare your back and give yourself a chill or flash at anyone either.

For me these have been a welcome addition to my wardrobe as I have certain goals (like I said at the beginning of the post) which I absolutely want to achieve and these will help me on my way for sure.

Have you been wanting to do more exercise? Do you have any sports wear you love to wear? Have you checked out JD Williams Sports wear collection?

    Lola Rose Portabello Bracelet (GIVEAWAY)

Lola Rose Jewellery has always been on my wishlist so when I was asked to feature the Portabello bracelet and to give one away I was so excited.

    portabello 1

If you haven’t heard of Lola Rose they are stocked through Very and other stockists and are the brain child of Nikki Gewirtz who, at 30, received a piece of jewellery that invoked a sense of nostalgia and also helped her make a decision about what she wanted to do with her life.

The idea behind this brand is that these pieces are timeless and have the ‘feel-good factor’ ensuring the wearer feels special.

The bracelet I was sent was the Portabello bracelet, a delicate gem stoned bracelet which has little cubes of gold separating each gem. The bracelet expands and tightens with the adjustable love knot to fit most sized wrists which I love and has a blue string holding it all together.

The first thing I noticed when it arrived was how pretty the pouch was that it arrived in. A lovely soft peach suede with a gold button on the front.

The second thing, which really surprised me, when I took the bracelet out was the weight of it.  Although delicate the bracelet felt really luxurious and weighty. Something I wasn’t expecting.

Each of the coloured gems are polished to a lovely round bead and the gold cubes inbetween each one really sets of the colours. (side note, when I was younger I used to collect crystals and gemstones so this was such a treat). You can get the Portabello in different colours, some all the same shade or some, like this one, in different colours. I love that the multicoloured bracelet as it means I can wear it with any outfit and it would compliment it well.

    My thoughts

When I received this and put it on I honestly couldn’t have been happier. I can honestly say that this is the start of a new obsession for me as it is my most favourite piece of jewellery I have ever owned.

Nikki had a vision for how the wearer would feel and I believe she has got the balance right.

For me, I would recommend this brand and bracelet to anyone looking for a lovely timeless gift for a friend, family member or partner. I know these will be on my wishlist forever more.

Christmas Party Outfit wishlist from Quiz Curve

I have my Christmas party coming up and new years of course and finding a classic cocktail / party dress for my size has not been easy however Quiz clothing have the answer.

I have found that some of the other brands are little ‘young’ for me. I am 36 now and I want classic styles but still gorgeous. When I think of this I always think of Quiz and one of my favourite dresses for work is from there.

Sizes go up to a 26 in the Curve collection and from my past dresses I know they are a true to size fitting.

    Party Dresses

    quiz 1

I am in love with this. Red to me defines Christmas and this dress with dip hem and bardot style really makes me think classic Christmas party. The material is slightly ribbed and a bit thicker meaning it hangs better on your body.

    quiz 2

I love how this dress combines lace and my favourite body con style of dress in a gorgeous navy colour. I like that the chiffon adds another texture too, however if I was going to go navy for a party it would be the dress that really would show off my curves.

    quiz 3

However, when it comes to parties let’s be honest. It will be a little black dress we choose and this one would be perfect for me in my eyes.

I have no doubt this one would be perfect in every way. Black, embroidered, glittered and classic.

    quiz 4

I have a gorgeous sequin bag which will go with all three outfits and stunning sparkly shoes.

Each of these dresses would be perfect.

Have you spotted what you will be wearing over Christmas? Which o these would you pick?

Plus Size Work Wear Inspo – New Job New Me

Since I turned thirty (blah blah) years ago, I discovered my love for all things leggings and dresses. Now I want to go out of my comfort zone and I decided to share some of my blogger inspo for the new style I want for my new job.

I have been wearing leggings every single day for the last dhfjkhfgsjh years and although I enjoy wearing them I don’t feel as professional or as put together as I want to portray in my new role.

I have been part of the plus size blogging community for a while and I have always been in awe of the amazing way people have their own style and how they can wear different outfits, not just leggings and a dress. Yet I have never ventured out of my comfort zone.

I thought it was about time to show you some of the outfits I would love to try or I have found inspiration from for my new me ‘look’ for my new job.

Outfits completely out of my comfort zone

I am in absolute admiration for these two bloggers as I hold them up as some of the most uniquely stylish women.

Firstly, this outfit from Chloe In Curve.

This is a classic shirt and trouser combo but I love how feminine it is yet still saying Girl Boss. The great thing about these are they are cropped wide leg trousers with a soft belt giving it that edginess. I used to wear black trousers and a jumper for 10 years at work and I honestly wouldn’t want to go back there so this definitely softens that almost uniform look for me.

You can check out the blog post here.

Secondly is this gorgeous look from Danie Vanier.

This look is so stunning, classy yet still sexy. I absolutely love the textures and also how comfortable it looks. Sometimes, when I think work wear or business attire I think stuffy and uncomfortable but this looks the complete opposite.

I have always been scared of wearing wide leg trousers but the pleated texture almost makes it look like a long skirt. Check out the post here.

    Autumnul Work Wear Style

Another two blogger I have loved for the longest time are the lovely Steph and Nancy.

I have chosen two styles from their blogs which would make an easy transition through this Autumn time yet still not the styles I would usually go for. However, I would get to stay in dresses and leggings for a little while longer and not be completely overwhelmed.

The look from Steph (Nerd about town) has that almost classic Chanel feel to it. I always think that Chanel have got classy work wear down don’t you? Paired with a bold duster coat which for me keeps in with my personality and the accent of a cute red bag, perfect again for transitioning in to Autumn. Catch the blog post here.

This look from Nancy (Sugar Darling?) has all the makings of something I would wear but still work appropriate. The gorgeous pattern on the dress which matches the jacket (which looks perfect for autumn) around the cuffs. Such a lovely statement piece which would stand out and still command the management status I have acquired. Check out the post here.

    Inspo 3

    Alternative Work Wear

I have never been the alternative type – I am way too boring and unoriginal but there are so many bloggers I really love who manage to keep their style but also slay the office.

Kitty (Kitty Rambles Alot) has paired up an A line skirt with biker boots and an animal type print top which is so simple yet really effective. You have personality as well as business babe all in one look. Check out the whole look and post here.

Autumn Wish List – my top picks! #Ad

    autumn 1

I am so excited for Autumn, pumpkin spices and warm deep colours and I wanted to share the items on my wish list.

The first is the gorgeous new eyeshadow and highlight palette from SophDoesNails x Makeup Revolution.

    autumn 2

    autumn 3

This collaboration is just awesome. I have been watching Soph for a really long time and as you know I have always been a fan of the Makeup Revolution makeup so this collaboration is brilliant. Admittedly when I first saw this I really felt like it would be my perfect eyeshadow palette. I mean, if I was to make one it would look almost identical to this.

I have been absolutely loving the clothing range from In The Style Curve, especially the lips oversized jumper dress from Charlotte Crosby. It looks so comfy and cool. Not something I would normally pick but I really think I would like it. Also the No Bad Days T shirt dress, in my hockey teams colours of course (Let’s Go Steelers, Let’s Go!)

    autumn 4 autumn 5

I really want to get back in to Yoga, I started ages ago and Curvesome Yoga has been brilliant for starting again. I also love the new Plus Size fabletics range too, especially the Nowra outfit.

    autumn 6

I feel like if I am dressed appropriately I will start getting my bum in gear and doing the thing I want to do again.

It wouldn’t be winter without a plethora of candles / wax melts around the house. Some of my favourites this Autumn are from woodwick, mainly as the wick crackles like a real fire, so peaceful and cosy. I fancy the Autumn scent one, Fresh apples and spices, infused with juicy currant and cranberries, almost festive but not quite there.

    autumn 7

So there you have it, these are my Autumn wish list goodies.

What is on your list? Are you excited for Autumn? What am I missing?
