I am so pleased to be able to bring you a review of the Pixi + Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse because I wasn’t going to purchase this originally.
If you’re like me and want to wait for the hype to die down you might not have picked up this product yet but I want to bring you a review now that the hype has died down and give you an honest opinion of this product.
The Double Cleanse is not a budget product so I have been waiting to purchase this when I wasn’t paying full price and when ASOS contacted me to say I had a £5 voucher waiting for me I decided to take the plunge and purchase it.
As usual I will break down each part of this product for you and give you my final thoughts.
Packaging
You receive this product in a tub that is split in to two (it reminds me of a yin and yang shape) which has the cleansing balm in one half and the cleansing cream in the other. It is a screw lid and it has an internal top that keeps the product covered. Personally I do not like the internal lid as I can’t ever screw the lid back on but it’s a minor issue.
It is a large tub, larger than most jars but for the price you want to get lots of products. It’s a shame it’s not a double pump, that would be amazing but this is still good.
Application
The idea is that you can cleanse in two easy steps. First of all you take the cleansing balm on to dry hands, rubbing together to create an oil. Gently rub this over your face (do not dampen your skin) and massage in to break down the makeup. I gently rub this over my eyes to break down mascara.
I use warm water and a muslin cloth to wipe this off.
I then take a ten pence amount of the cream cleanser and rub it gently over the face, removing once again with a damp cloth.
The instructions are on the back of the package which is great because I thought the cream cleanser would be used with a cotton pad but I am actually really pleased it isn’t.
Scent
This is not scented at all and I actually really appreciate that. I hasn’t realised how scented a lot of my cleansing balms were and it is really refreshing to not be overpowered by the scent of something just before I go to bed.
Texture
The balm is a vaseline type texture when you take the first bit in your fingers but as soon as your body heat touches the product it starts to melt straight away. It’s so silky and feels beautiful on the face, so very gentle.
The cream is like a gel cream, really light and feels nice and cooling after the first cleanse.
Results
Using the first cleanse takes of bulk of my makeup and breaks it down really easily. Especially eye makeup which I try and be as gentle as possible. The cream takes off the last bits and moisturises the skin.
Final thoughts
I absolutely love this. I was waiting to see if this was worth the hype and I truly think this is. I still need to take a little bit of eye makeup remover to get the last of my mascara off but not half as much as usual. I love that it is unscented, I think that might be the best thing about it as a lot of my other products that don’t do as good a job.
I really hate giving in to the hype and usually I don’t give in to the YouTube collaboration products but I was more excited to try this than anything because I truly believe if Caroline Hirons has put her name on it then it wouldn’t be pants. I do believe she wouldn’t allow it.
Is it value for money? I would say it’s very pricey so if you can find it on offer then do. I got it for £19 instead of £24 which is still ok but I would prefer to pay less if I can.
Have you tried the Double Cleanse yet? Are you like me when waiting for hype to die down before trying anything?
This sounds great – I’ve been so out of the loop with beauty products recently I hadn’t actually heard of it.. I think it will have to go on my wishlist now!
This looks like a lovely scrummy luxurious product I’ve always associated double cleanse with my double wash hair routine haha so maybe this is made for me
I’d not even heard of this so thanks for bringing it to my attention. I think I’ll look out for it being on offer as that’s rather pricey full price.
I’ve never heard of this brand or product before, but I’ll definitely give it a try after your recommendation! (And if it’s on offer!)
This sounds so good – I have never heard of this brand before. I will look out for it. Kaz 🙂
I haven’t heard of Caroline Hirons or this product before – off to google 🙂
I’ve heard that this brand is good, but still for me it’s a bit too pricey. But it does sound tempting!
I’ve not heard about this brand before but for £24 it’s affordable. When you use it how long does it usually last you?
It would last at least a few months for me! x
This sounds great. I really like unscented cremes!
