In my little skincare bag this week whilst away with work I have included some of my samples and deluxe samples I get from beauty boxes or freebies.
I always like to do this if I am going away over night or on holiday as I get to try something new but also it takes up less room and I could even finish it in the time I am away so can just finally put in my empties!
I will start with the body wash / shower gel I chose. Although there is often shower gel in hotels I rarely like the scent of them and I had a little Philosophy Amazing Grace shower gel from my October Tili box that I wanted to try.
It is quite a thick gel and it foams up really nicely. The scent it pleasant but not overpowering. You actually don’t need too much either because of how thick it is.
For the morning shower I have bought the Mario Badescu Glycolic Foaming Facewash with me. I got this as a sample from Beauty Bay and this is the first time I have tried it out. So far it’s been nice. It’s not massively foamy which actually is a good thing, foam normally means it’s drying so I was quite pleased about that.
Next up is a little Caudalie Firming Serum sachet. I have my favourite serums but like to try others. This has been the standout for me so far. There was enough for morning and evening application for two days in the sachet however I would like to try a larger sample for a longer period of time to see if it makes any improvements.
Follow my serum in the morning I have used the Kat Burki Vitamin C Intensive Face cream which is a nice day cream. It doesn’t have spf which is ok but is quite hydrating. It’s maybe a little intensive for me right now but it is nice. Again with it being a sachet I can’t really get a feel for it.
In the evening the final sachet, from Sisley, is what I have been using. This is the Sisleya L’integral Anti-Age day and night cream. It is SO thick…definitely a good idea to use it at night time. This has the strongest scent out of them all and is a little herbal. If you have a real sensitivity to strong herbal scented products then this wouldn’t be for you but if you can get over it I would definitely say it is good if you have dry skin, especially in this cold snap. (on second thoughts it turns out this is nearly £300 for 50mls!!!!)
For eye cream I bought along the Clinique pep-start eye cream. I honestly don’t know if eye creams do anything and have only started using one again recently…not even sure if anything is changing or improving so can’t really comment on the effects. I can however say that it is gentle and cooling and sinks in to the skin really nicely if that helps you make a decision.
The last two products are both from Caudelie again.
One is the vinoperfect overnight renewal cream. I have been using this after the Sisley night cream and it’s really quite nice. It’s not offensive. My honest thoughts though are that it doesn’t come close to the overnight cream I have been testing at home which I will be reviewing soon so keep an eye out.
The second is the Reversetrol [lift] Face lifting moisturiser broad spectrum spf20. I bought this in case the sachets ran out or I had a severe reaction immediately. So far I haven’t and they haven’t run out so this is going back in the bag for next time.
Do you do the same and take samples with you? Do you use your sachet samples? Have you got lots of little samples you haven’t tried yet? Are there any products I have mentioned you love OR you absolutely do not get on with?
I actually do this, I save samples up for when I am away overnight and I also save perfume samples up for when I am out on a long day or a night out. They are so small and you just throw the vial away when you are done
Love how organised you are – my working away skin care involves a mini tub of nivea and some vaseline! I feel I’m perpetually behind on the skin care game!
I love Mario Badescu products. I normally throw sachets away but it makes sense to use them while travelling to save space! x
I always take samples with me when travelling – I have so many and can’t seem to even make a dent into my supply!
What an inspiring selection of skincare. I often find the shower gel products in the hotels too harsh for my skin, so also prefer to take my own with me.
I like the sound of the Mario Badescu Glycolic Foaming Facewash – great haul here. Jo x
I always save tester size products for holidays as it feels like a treat to have something new while you’re away.
Alana x
What some really interesting sounds products, I really need to work on my skincare routine for anytime as I have let it go to pot.
I think minis are such a fabulous way to try out skincare xx
I always buy mini versions of things when I’m travelling, but I never thought of collecting samples to use. Great idea!
wow this is such neat idea to have skin care samples in the travel bag! I always end up carrying bug bottles and then I regret fitting them in later!
Love the mario badescu range!
My toiletries bag is often full of little samples and treats – as you say they just take up so much less room don’t they. I’m not a fan of hotel shower gel as a rule either.
This is such a good idea – I need to use up my samples!
This is a fab idea. I never take samples with me but will start. A lot easier
The caudalie firming serum seems like it would be interesting and a great product to try 😉
Samples are always great for going away. I do love the clinique prep start eye cream as well always brightens up my eyes x
You took some really lovely products, whilst in Korea I got loads of product samples so I use them whenever I am traveling which seems to be monthly
I love those little miniatures for when I’m travelling, so handy!
Ooo I really want to try out some Mario Badescu products!! I’ve heard so many great things!
I think they are ok – not the best and not the worst but definitely gentle and effective x
I love using my samples when I’m away – saves me taking bigger bottles x
It’s so much better AND you can really give them a proper try x
every sample i get, i keep them in a box and they’ll only get used when I’m on the go.
